Over the weekend, I reconnected with an old friend and thought a Thinking Of You card would be perfect! Thank you Pinterest for the inspiration! I have lots of Neutral Designer Series Paper Stacks left, so this is a great to use up your leftovers. I cut a 2 1/2″ square piece of designer series paper. Added a 1 1/4″ x 2 1/2″ Whisper White card stock and stamped in Raspberry Ripple. The Elegant Butterfly was punched from Daffodil Delight for eye popping color against the Basic Black.
If you notice closely in the photo below, I used the Stripes Embossing Folder for the background. At first, when I ran the card stock through, it broke down more paper fibers than I wanted. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how well it worked together and discovered a technique. I am going to call this clapboard siding technique. To get this look, just add a little extra shim, like copy paper, and the card stock will naturally do that.
If you want crisp, clean lines, use less layers on your platform. You will have to play around with this, as I discovered.
For the final touch, I added pearls. But I colored them with a Black Sharpie and only the tops.
